Located in the Broad Top Mountain Area, the East Broad Top Railroad was founded in 1872, and finished being built in 1874. Originally used to service the coal fields of Broad Top Mountain and relocate the coal to Mount Union, the railroad was eventually disbanded in 1956 after oil and gas were beginning to be used. The railroad was unique in its kind as it was the last original narrow gauge on the eastern side of the Rocky Mountain Range. The EBT was bought by Nick Kovalchick to be dismantled but never was.

In 1960, Kovalchick began to offer excursions after being asked for the town’s bicentennial and then kept it open for tourists. They have seven original steam engines, and two of them function

Five miles of the track is used for tourist excursions. The original 19th and 20th infrastructure delights thousands of tourists, and volunteers work to preserve the beautiful railroad.
